Hiring A Conveyancer In Darwin

Many of the clients who come to see us at Jarrett Lawrie Conveyancing are directed to our services by a real estate agent. They may be confused about what conveyancing entails and why they require our services.

Buying and selling properties in Australia is not a straightforward process. There are many legal loopholes involved in transferring the ownership of a property from one person or entity to another. While you are not legally required to hire a conveyancer, having an ally who understands the legal requirements involved in your particular transaction is a blessing.

As conveyancers in the region we are fully licensed and qualified to provide you with legal guidance, create, complete and submit forms on your behalf and finalise the settlement for you. We have over 60 years of combined experience in the industry, we have encountered every type of transaction or problem there is. Please reach out to us for further information.

We understand that buying a house is the largest financial commitment that most people will make. As such, it's essential to ensure that the legal side of the transaction is watertight, minimizing the risk of unpleasant surprises further down the line.

Dianne and Sue at Jarrett Lawrie are committed to ensuring that every client has all the information they need to make the purchasing decisions that are right for them.

Stages Of Conveyancing

There are three stages involved in the conveyancing process in the Northern Territory and other regions of Australia. These stages include before contract, before completion and after completion. Click below or get in touch with us for further information.

  • Conveyancing Before Contract

    • Before you sign the relevant contract we will review the documents, make necessary changes and advise you of any issues that may cause you problems in the future.
    • We will order reports such as building and site inspections while liaising with the other parties involved in the transaction.
  • Conveyancing Before Completion

    • Before the exchange of documents and settlement we organise all the relevant reports, prepare financial statements for the settlement and ensure you have enough money to cover the costs of the deposit and other fees.
    • We will also prepare the necessary forms to transfer ownership of the house, apartment, commercial building or plot of land.
  • Conveyancing After Completion

    • We will take a seat at the settlement on your behalf and make sure all the documents are correct.
    • Our conveyancers oversee the payment of relevant deposits and fees while letting you know when the transaction is finalised and the property is bought or sold.
